Through the Second Chance Matric program, candidates who are preparing for the May/June examinations can receive support. This is for those who did not meet the requirements of the Extended Senior Certificate or the National Senior Certificate.
In 2016, the Second Chance Matric initiative was launched to give learners who did not get their Matric a second chance. It’s a great opportunity for people of any age.
The only individuals who can appear in the October, November, and May exams are those who have completed the National Senior Certificate.
Through the program, candidates are not required to pay fees. They can study part-time, and they are supported by various platforms. Some of these include online learning materials and face-to-face sessions.
Through in-person classes, which are facilitated by experienced teachers, candidates can improve their skills at their own pace. They can also check the locations of the classes in their area through the Second Chance website.
These sessions are usually held after hours, and candidates can get the times of their lessons from the schools or community centers where they will be taught.
They can also utilize online lessons through platforms such as OpenView Channel, the DBE YouTube Channel, and Mindset. Each student receives their own study guide and past papers to ensure that they get the best possible results.
Hard copies of the learning materials can be obtained from the centers or the Second Chance website. Students can also practice mathematics using the Siyavula website.
The schedule for the May and June examinations has been released, and the first exam will be held on May 3, 2023.
