With the new learnerships available for the year, the South Cape TVET College is providing the learnerships 2022-2023 opportunity for any qualified craftsmen to expand their skill set.

Successful candidates will be given the opportunity to hone their talents while teaching what they know to students who are struggling to learn these specific trades.

South Cape TVET College Learnerships 2022-2023 cover a wide range of trades, allowing a diverse range of individuals to participate and add value to the college.

About the South Cape TVET College

The institution is the largest FET college in the province, with 6 campuses and student residences spread across Mossel Bay, Oudtshoorn, and George. It is located along the Garden Route and the Little Karoo.

The college is committed to encouraging student growth by providing the highest quality education available. The college thinks that if this is done correctly, its pupils will have a stable future in profitable employment and higher education.

What exactly are the South Cape TVET College Learnerships?

These apprenticeships are designed for qualified artisans, notably plumbers, welders, cooks, community health workers, and entrepreneurs.

These folks will be able to advance their education while also teaching new students about their respective trade.

These learnerships last at least a year, depending on the candidate and their ambitions. During these learnerships, candidates will be paid R261, 372 each year, deducting service benefits of 37%.

Candidates will be expected to do tasks such as:

  • Ensure that the Occupational Health program, which is SETA and QCTO accredited, is developed and implemented across multiple delivery sites in the Southern Cape and Klein Karoo.
  • Visiting workplaces to provide course and practical coaching and supervision to students.
  • Making certain that there is high-quality teaching and learning, as well as workplace supervision.
  • Following College/SETA educational norms.
  • Collaborating with the Program Manager of the Learnerships.
  • Taking responsibility for all responsibilities, including administration.
  • Completing any additional assignments that have been assigned to you.


To apply for a learnership at the South Cape TVET College, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Facilitator-Plumber: A qualified Artisan – Red Seal Trade as Plumber is required.
  • Facilitator-Welder: A qualified Artisan – Red Seal Trade as Welder is required.
  • Facilitator-Community Health Worker: must have matriculated, a three-year certification in Public Health, Community Health, or Public Health Nutrition (degree or diploma), and one to three years of relevant professional experience.
  • Facilitator-Professional Cookery: must have matriculated, a three-year qualification in Culinary Arts/Qualified Chef (degree or diploma), and one to three years of work experience in the corresponding hospitality area.
  • Facilitator-New Venture Creation L2: must have matriculated, a 3-year qualification (degree or diploma), and 1 to 3 years of business experience.
  • Facilitator-Welder: must be MERSETA-registered as an assessor.
  • The Facilitator-Plumber must be a CETA-registered Assessor.
  • Facilitator-Community Health Worker: must be registered with the Health & Welfare SETA as an Assessor.
  • Facilitator-Professional Cookery: must be a CATH-registered Assessor with SSETA
  • Facilitator-New Venture Creation L2: must be registered with the Services SETA as an Assessor.
    It is a significant benefit for the applicant if they have a teacher’s diploma.
  • Applicants must have prior teaching experience in the above-mentioned fields.
  • Applicants must be fluent in at least two of the Western Cape’s official languages.
  • Applicants must be in possession of a valid Code-8 driver’s license.
  • Applicants must be skilled in Microsoft Office.
  • Applicants must have worked with students with learning impairments in the past.
  • Applicants must have prior expertise analyzing various learning styles as well as the required instructional methodologies.
  • Applicants must be able to work under duress.
  • In some situations, applicants must be willing to work after hours.
